Ben L. presents a check to John, on behalf of Temple Isaiah Men’s Club

Temple Isaiah Men’s Club donated $3500 to DreamBuilders operations. These funds are a portion of proceeds from their 14th annual Matzohball 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run, held in June. DreamBuilders is grateful for the continued support of the TI Men’s Club.

Pittsburgh Mission Trip is a Resounding Success

DreamBuilders in Pittsburgh, 2019

On June 23-29, twenty-two DreamBuilders worked in the Enright Court neighborhood located in East Liberty, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. The build was made in collaboration with several non profit groups: East Liberty Development Inc., Full Quiver, and Rebuilding Pittsburgh. Despite the heat, the champions worked on both interior and exterior demolition and reframed walls (including one roof) and installed vinyl siding, windows, doors, and interior drywall. Local neighbors of the Enright Court community also teamed with our group! The mission experience was a great week of collaboration, fellowship and hard work, serving an impoverished area of the City of Bridges.

DreamBuilding in Puerto Rico

The storm destroyed the original roof, doors, and windows of this home; flooding caused the family to seek shelter at a neighbor’s home.

Twenty months after Hurricane Maria struck the island, recovery continues outside of San Juan and in rural areas. In May 2019, our team helped repair two homes in the northeastern coastal town of Loiza. We worked on demolition, mudding and sanding drywall ceilings; priming and painting interior and exterior walls, installing wood trim, caulking, cementing doorframes and patching around windows, and more. We were grateful to work with a native Puerto Rican fellow missioner who grew up in Maryland. Special thanks to Sterling Quality Water for sponsoring Julio, who did outstanding work. Julio was glad for the opportunity to use his construction skills to give back to Puerto Rico. Both families are excited to soon move back into their homes when the work is finished.

Some missioners work together to sand a ceiling to perfection.

DreamBuilders wishes to thank KasCon, Inc., a commercial general contractor and management firm in Maryland, for its generous donation of $2500, along with hard hats for our 2019 Pittsburgh mission trip. KasCon is well-known throughout the community for volunteerism and contributions to DreamBuilders, the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and other local service organizations.

Join us at the 2019 MatzohBall 5k

Temple Isaiah’s 15th Annual 5K Run & 1 Mile Family Fun Run will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 9am. Proceeds benefit Temple Isaiah, Grassroots, Hopeworks, and DreamBuilders. This is a family event for runners or walkers. Both the 5K race and the 1 mile fun run/walk courses follow the paved foot paths around the lake at beautiful Centennial Park, located off Route 108 in Ellicott City, Maryland. The race starts and finishes near Pavilions A, B & C (south entrance.) After the race, you’re welcome to stay at the park and attend Family Wellness Day. The MatzohBall website has race information, sponsorship forms, and sign ups.

Our ARC home project wraps-up

DreamBuilders worked with the Arc of Howard County on one of its group homes in Ellicott City this spring. In March, we improved the basement with newly framed walls, a handrail for the steps, and a custom door. In April, we worked outdoors, building a wheelchair accessible ramp with a handrail for entry to a screened porch. The residents now have better control over where they choose to spend their leisure time! Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped support this effort.

What a wonderful, successful night!

Thanks to everyone who helped make our Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction a success! We raised over $22,000 to help defray expenses for our 2019 building projects in Puerto Rico, Pittsburgh, and Howard County. Whether you planned, organized, donated, cooked, served, bid, hauled, set up, tore down, ate, bought, or sold–it is very much appreciated! Special thanks to Delusions of Grandeur for their musical boost to the evening; they really rock! Kudos to Sugar Mamma Bakery and the Gelven Family for their respective donations of delicious “HOMEmade” cookies and wines. Also, congratulations to Matt Lazas, raffle winner of the iPhone!! DreamBuilders extends huge thanks to our community for supporting the team effort. You really help turn dreams into reality!

More about the XS Max: the OLED panels give the sharpest displays, with the highest pixel density, of any Apple device. With support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 titles from iTunes, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video, wider stereo playback makes it all sound great. Your HDR photos — even those you captured before — will have a 60 percent greater dynamic range. A six-channel light sensor subtly adjusts the white balance onscreen to match the color temperature of the light around you. So images on the display look as natural as on a printed page and are easier on your eyes. The most durable glass in a smartphone, sealed and precision-fitted with the surgical-grade stainless steel band, helps create a more water-resistant enclosure — up to 2 meters for 30 minutes. iPhone XS even resists spills from coffee, tea, soda, and more.
